About Us

The practice was founded by Dr.Brendan Greene in the 1950's and served the community ever since.
The Medical Practice has developed into a multidisciplinary Medical Centre where Medical, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Podiatry and Psychotherapy services are available.


Meet the team.

Dr.Philip Wiehe, MB BCh R.S.C.I.
Graduated from RCSI in 1980. Completed self structured GP training in 1985.
Joined the Practice in Sundrive Road in 1985.
Has a special interest in Medicine for the Elderly, Minor Surgery, and Medical Education.
Is programme Director for GP training. 

Dr.Imelda Sliney, MB BCh T.C.D.
Dr.Imelda Sliney is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin.
Completed her medical studies in 1977.
Has a special interest in Women's Health and Dermatology.
Dr.Cliona O'Rorke, MB BCh BAO MRCPI
Dr.Cliona O'Rorke graduated from UCD in 1997.
Completed her GP training in 2004.(awarded the Eppel Trophy for highest results)
Has a special interest in Women's Health, Children's Health and Medical Education. 
Dr.O'Rorke is also a GP trainer.
Dr.George Dennis, MB BCh BAO MICGP
Dr.George Dennis graduated from RCSI in1998.
Completed his GP training in 2004.
Has a special interest in Minor Surgery, Children's Health and Men's Health.
Dr.Ciara Joyce, MB BCh BAO MICGP
Dr.Ciara Joyce graduated from UCD in 2005.
Completed her GP Training in 2011.
Has a special interest in Women's Health, Medicine for the Elderly and Children's Health.

Postgraduate Training.

The Practice is a Postgraduate training Practice and we welcomed our first registrar in July 2009. The Practice remains also an undergraduate teaching Practice.

We would like to welcome our  new registrar to the practice.

Dr.Jean Lowry will be with us from July 2020 until June 2021.

Womens Health
  • Cervical Screening: The National Cervical Screening Programme provides free smears to woman aged 25 - 60 years.
  • Dr. Sliney, Dr.O'Rorke ,Dr.Joyce, Nurse's Sharon Kinsella and  Ausra Grigaraviciene are all registered smear takers with the Screening Programme.
  • To avail of your free smear test you must first check that you are eligible. Go to www.cervicalchecke.ie and follow the link for "Check Your Registration/Eligibility". If you are not on the register you can add or update your personal details. If you have any questions you can call CervicalCheck on Freephone 1800 45 45 45. You will need your PPS no in order to complete this process. CervicalCheck also sends invitation letters to women who are on the CervicalCheck register.
  • Women who have already availed of a CervicalCheck smear test since the start of the programme on 1 September 2008 will be automatically re-called when their next smear test is due.
  • The best time to have your smear test done is mid cycle, i.e.10-20 days after the first day of your period.

  • Cervical Cancer Vaccine: We provide human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine, Gardasil, which can protect against cervical cancer, pre-cancerous lesions and genital warts.
  • There is a course of 3 vaccinations, which must be completed in order to get full pretection.

  • Gynaecology: Gynaecology assessments can be arranged by appointment. Services provided include, fitting of ring pessaries, menopause management and screening.



  • Family Planning: Well woman services are provided by appointment. We are happy to discuss and advise on all aspects of flammily planning.
  • Dr.O'Rorke and Dr.Joyce  offer specialist family planning services including insertion and removal of Implanon and Mirena Coil.

  • Mother and Child:The combined ante-natal care scheme provides care during pregnancy between your GP and an obstetrician. This is available free of charge to all women with a valid PPS number. You can avail of this by completing an application form with the doctor. Ideally you should attend for initial examination early in pregnancy. Thereafter, your visits alternate between the surgery and the ante-natal clinic.
  • The scheme also provides for post natal checks at 2 weeks and 6 weeks after the birth of your baby.




Travel Vaccines
  • We offer a comprehensive travel health service on all matters relating to healthy travel abroad.
  • We provide a full range of travel vaccines including yellow fever and also advice about malaria prophylaxis.
  • Please book your first appointment asa early as possible, preferably at least 6 weeks prior to departure.
Minor Surgery
We provide a Minor Surgery service under local anaesthesia after an appropriate pre-operative assessment.
Services may include:
  • Diagnostic excision and punch biopsy
  • Abscess incision and drainage
  • Excision of pigmented naevii
  • Excision of sebaceous cysts
  • Wedge resection of ingrown toenail
  • Joint aspiration/injection
  • Minor wound suturing
  • Skin tag excision

Cryosurgery:
Liquid nitrogen is available for the treatment of:
  • Warts
  • Plantar warts
  • Keratoses

Some of these services are covered by Private Health Insurance. Please check with your Health Care Provider.

These services are not covered under the General Mecical Services (Medical Card) - except chiropody for over 65's. Further information is available from the service providers.

Under 6 GP visit Card

This practice has signed up for the under 6 GP visit card.

If your child is under the age of 6 and you would like to register them with this practice please log on to HSE.ie and follow the instructions.

The following doctors are on the register:

Once you have received a card for your child they may attend any of the doctors in the practice regardless of which doctor the card is registered with.

Please keep watch on the notice boards in the surgery for information on the dates and times when we will be holding Flu Vaccination Clinics.
Changes due to GDPR

Dear Patients,
Processing your personal information comes with significant responsibilities on our part and we want you to know that we take those responsibilities very seriously.

From Friday 25th May 2018, The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will replace current data protection laws in the European Union.

The new laws mean that we haves changes to implement within our practice, and we ask for your patience while we do this.


Please note we are no longer able to release medical information to family members of friends without signed consent from the patient. On the consent form, you are asked to nominate 2 people to collect your medical information on your behalf. Please inform the nominees that they may be asked for photo ID on arrival.
